Stephanie Hicks grew up in Traverse City, and is excited to be back in northern Michigan working with the Law Office of Gerald F. Chefalo.  Prior to returning to Traverse City, Stephanie worked as an associate attorney at Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. in the firm’s main Lansing office in the Labor, Employment, and Benefits practice group.  Stephanie now practices family law, criminal defense, and bankruptcy.

Stephanie graduated from Traverse City Central, and went on to attend Butler University in Indianapolis.  She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance, with a minor in History, and graduated from Butler cum laude in May 2005.  Stephanie earned her Juris Doctor in May 2008 from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, and graduated cum laude.  While at Wayne State, she was a member of the Moot Court team during her second year, and served on the Moot Court executive board during her third year.  During law school, she interned for the Honorable Fred Mester of Oakland County Circuit Court, and also worked as a clerk at the 43rd District Court in Ferndale.

Stephanie was admitted to the Michigan bar in 2008.  She is also admitted to practice before the Eastern District of Michigan and the 6th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals.  She is a member of the Grand Traverse Leelanau and Antrim Bar Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of the GTLABA.

When out of the office, Stephanie enjoys the outdoors biking, hiking, and running.  She spends many summer weekends at her family’s cottage on Lake Erie in Ontario, and loves to be out on the water boating, wakeboarding, and waterskiing.
